University of Porto situation updateRaul Santos
The U.Porto task force for Covid-19 is in permanent contact with the national health authorities. We’re monitoring the evolution of the COVID-19 pandemic, especially in our community.
In the last few days we’ve registered a growing number of confirmed cases among the students of the University of Porto. The infection is not related to any academic activities – where we’re strictly following all the security recommendations and rules. It’s known that it happened after some social meetings outside the University campus over the last days and the last few weeks. So far, we don’t have any case of infection ocurred on campus.
It is imperative that everyone follow the rules and recommendations against the Covid-19 pandemic. Please, be aware that all the measures are strongly necessary, especially outside the classroom or office, where the risk is higher, especially in unprotected social gatherings.
We would like to remind you of some of the protective measures:
- Keep de physical distance from others
- Wear a face mask in all enclosed and public spaces or outside when it’s not possible to keep the distance
- Cough or sneeze in your bent elbow – not your hands!
- Clean your hands often
- Do not share your items
- Limit social gatherings and time spent in crowded places and avoid unnecessary social meeting.
If you experience symptoms or have been in contact with someone that tested positive for Covid-19, stay at home, call the national health hotline SNS24 (808 24 24 24) and follow the instructions given.
Remember that keeping each other safe is everyone’s responsibility.
