About U.Porto and Porto4Ageing

The Competences Centre on Active and Healthy Ageing of U.Porto, Porto4Ageing, holds the mission of promoting, transversally to U.Porto and Metropolitan Area of Porto, the quality and multidisciplinary of all training, research, development and innovation activities carried out in the field of active and healthy ageing. Porto4Ageing is a consortium that brings together over 100 organisations, representing different stakeholders – regional governments, health and care providers, academia and research, industry and civil society – and building upon the quadruple helix approach. The Porto4Ageing alliance is committed to promoting local convergence and improving the health innovation ecosystem, while reducing and overcoming existing bottlenecks. It is doing so by promoting joint work for high impact, thus bridging the gap between public and private actions and instruments and, ultimately, facilitating knowledge exchanges and scaling up of results.

Elísio Costa

Professor at the Department of Biological Sciences of the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Porto and researcher in the Research Unit on Applied Molecular Biosciences of the same institution (UCIBIO). He is also the Director of the Competence Center on Ageing of the University of Porto, which aims to work as a convergence Centre of all the skills and knowledge of the University in the field of ageing; and co-coordinator of activities of the University of Porto as an INNOSTARS RIS-Hub of EIT-Health. He is a member of the European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing (EIP-AHA) on the Action Group A1 on Adherence to Prescription and Medical Plans, being the co-coordinator of one of the objectives of this Action Group. Moreover, he is the scientific coordinator of the EIP-AHA two-starred Reference Site: Porto4Ageing. He is author of more than 200 publications (orcid.org/0000-0003-1158-1480) and has collaborated in national and international research projects in the field of chronic diseases, namely chronic kidney disease and ageing (SACHI2; SKILLS4ADHERENCE; ICTSKILLS4ALL, FAIR4HEALTH, others).

Constança Paúl

Constança Paúl is a Professor of Psychology at ICBAS-University of Porto; Director of the Dpt. of Behavioural Sciences ICBAS U.Porto (Psychology, Sociology, Medical History, Psychiatry and Mental Health for medical students) and since 2008; Director of PhD Program of Gerontology and Geriatrics, University of Porto and University of Aveiro; Member of the Scientific Commission of the PhD Program on Occupation Health and Security of the University of Porto. President of the division 7 of GeroPsychology of the International Association of Applied Psychology- IAAP; Director of the Research Unit on Ageing UNIFAI / ICBAS-U.Porto, that is a member of Age Platform, and a partner of the European Research Partnership active and Healthy Aging EIP-AHA. Coordinates the Office on Ageing Issues 50+ (specialised service on ageing, ensuring a personalised care, provided by experts in the fields of psychology, gerontology and health). She has great expertise in running international European projects and she publishes regularly in international and national scientific papers, journals and books in the field of health psychology and aging issues.

Margarida Amaral

Head of Educational Technologies

Margarida Amaral has a degree in Chemistry from University of Porto. She is the Head of Educational Technologies Unit @ U.Porto. Her responsibility relates with the strategy of implementation of e-learning and associated technologies at the University level and also the coordination of multimedia projects. She has large experience in national and international projects in the field of pedagogical enhancement with educational technologies and in the production, tutoring and management of distance learning courses.

Liliana Rodrigues

Liliana Rodrigues has a Pre-Bologna degree in Communication Design from ESAD Matosinhos. Studied at the Faculty of Sciences and ICBAS of the University of Porto, having attended several Curricular Units in the scope of Life Sciences at the Master Degree in Veterinary Medicine, and Degree in Landscape Architecture. With an extensive experience as a Senior Designer in the area of ​​Communication Design, her professional career has also included Management and Communication Advisory in Projects in the area of ​​Animal Health and Welfare. Having has main area of ​​study and performance the Science Communication.
